In 1999, Hope Air launched an innovative new program with the goal of extending our service to communities not well covered by commercial airlines. The Volunteer Pilot Program (VPP) provides general aviation pilots with the opportunity to combine their passion for flying with their desire to help people in need.
Our Volunteer Pilots are an extraordinary group of people; they come from many different backgrounds and areas of the country.

Any pilot who meets the following minimum qualifications may apply to become a Hope Air Volunteer Pilot:

  1. Valid Canadian private, commercial, or airline transport pilot licence;
  2. 500 hours, total time;
  3. 400 hours, PIC;
  4. 50 hours in make and model; and
  5. 30 hours during the past 12 months.
(*new minimum hours effective as of October 15, 2009.)

We are grateful to the following
